Congress Veteran MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy passes away:- Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member, Palvai Govardhan Reddy died of heart attack in Kulu, Himachal Pradesh on Friday.

A five-time MLA from Mahabubnagar district. Since 2014, Reddy was representing Telangana in Rajya Sabha and served twice as a state minister during the 1980s.

It is said that Reddy suffered a severe heart stroke while traveling in a car to attend a Parliamentary Standing Committee meeting in Kulu this morning.

Born on 20 November 1936 in Nadimpally village of Acchampet mandal in Mahabubnagar district, Palvai is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.

After becoming a member of the Rajya Sabha member from the undivided AP on 3 April 2012, he was shifted to the Telangana quota in May 2014. Several leaders from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh condoled the death of the senior Congress leader.

During 1967-72, 1972-78, 1978-83, 1983-85 and 1999-2004, Reddy served as an MLA. He was a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, during 2007-09.

Palvai did his BA from Vivekavardhini College, Osmania University, and during his campus days, he had served as president of NSUI. He was the secretary of AP Youth Congress during the tenure of first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

In addition, he served as the Minister of State for Rural Water Supply, Youth Services and LIDCAP in the cabinet of Bhavanam Venkat Ram Reddy in 1981 and Minister of State for Handlooms and Textiles, Sericulture, Printing and Stationery in the Kotla Vijayabhasker Reddy cabinet.
