ISRO To Open Research Centre In Hyderabad

National Space Agency, The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has unveiled its plans to open an exclusive research centre in Hyderabad.

This research centre will be exclusively for start-ups, academicians and entrepreneurs. This will be the first time, that ISRO is setting up such an exclusive research facility in Telangana.

The centre is specifically aimed at start-ups and exploring the possibility of developing products, based on the geospatial technology. This geospatial technology includes, data generated through Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Satellite Remote Sensing.

The young researchers through this centre will be made accessible to the entire satellite research data of India and neighboring countries collected by the ISRO satellites, and the data stored in various research centers in India, over the last few decades. This exclusive facility will even encourage start-ups with brilliant ideas and transforming the ideas into products.

The ISRO Centre is expected to be inaugurated by the end of this month at National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), Jeedimetla.

ISRO Chairman Dr. A. S. Kiran Kumar, during a visit to Hyderabad on the occasion of National Technology Day, said “This will be a unique opportunity to youngsters and start-ups. Large number of both Indian academic institutions and student community can take advantage of the faculty. Using this huge ISRO data, entrepreneurs and youngsters can find solutions for product generation, which will be useful for the nation.”
