Jejamma Jejamma lyricist turns a year older

Dr.C.Narayana Reddy, a well known poet and lyricist for Telugu movies turns 82 today.  He was born on July 29, 1931 at Hanumajipeta, Karimnagar.  

Narayana Reddy started working as a lyricist in 1962 for the movies with Gulebakavai.   The last song he contributed to the cinema so far is for Arundhati- Jejamma Jejamma.

C. Narayana Reddy popularly known as cenare is receipient of Gnanapeeth award in 1988 for his literary work Viswambara.  He was also honored by the Government of India with Padam Shri in 1977 and Padma Bhushan in 1992.   Andhra University awarded him with honorary Kala Prapurna in 1978.  He is considered as an authority on Telugu language.  He invented many Telugu words for English.  He received “Life Time Achievement Award” by translating it into Telugu as “Jeevana Safalya” from Cine Maa Awards in 2010.

Narayana Reddy was nominated to Rajya Sabha in 1997.  It is hard to say what is best of 3000 songs he wrote for the movies but his memorable songs are “Nannu Dochukonduvate” in Gulebakaavali, “Vagala Ranivi neeve” in Bandipotu, “Ee Nallani Rallalo”  in Amara Shilpi Jakkana, “Antaga Nanu Chudaku” in Manchi Manishi, “Sivaranjani” in Turpu Padamara and “Neeperu talachina chalu in Ekaveera.  He translated Meera songs into Telugu which became popular.

Many film literary and political personalities wished Dr.C.Narayana Reddy on the occasion of his birthday.
