Indian Lawmakers Appeal to US?

Washington post says, "It is almost unthinkable that Indian lawmakers would appeal to the United States to take a stand on an internal matter. Most Indian politicians, many of whom still nurse a Cold War-era suspicion of Washington, would bristle at the very thought of it."

The above remarks are made in the wake of a letter sent the President of United States under the signatures of 25 Rajyasabha Members and 40 Loksabha Members that reads “We wish to respectfully urge you to maintain the current policy of denying Mr Modi a visa to the United States”.

In order to make things difficult to Narendra Modi, our law makers going to that extent without any hesitation is one thing that surprises USA but not Indians as the nature of a politician is well known here.  The way they are appealing is something an Indian should feel ashamed of in fact.

But we also should appreciate the single pointed view our politicians take which they call by hook or crook.  They can go to any extreme in order get the results in their favor devoid of any self respect.  It is a virtue dreamed of by Sants and Sanyasis.

Our people are also quick in retracing.  CPM leader Sitaram Yechuri, DMK MP Ramalingam, NCP MP Sanjeev Naik and many more denied writing such a letter.  But Independent Rajya Sabha member Mohammed Adeeb says that a letter was sent and it was signed by all those MPs and Rajyasabha Members.

In the meanwhile US Diplomat says that the application once given by the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, it will be processed according to the US Immigration laws.
