P-81 is developed by Boeing for Indian Navy which is different from P-8A Poseidon made for the sake of US Navy. P-81 is equipped with foreign and indigenous sensors to make it combat surface and submarine weapons.

The officers said that the addition of P-81 increases the surveillance capabilities of the Navy in the Indian Ocean.

The aircraft was piloted by Squadron Commander-designate, Commander H.S.Jhajj. The event was attended by Chief of Staff of Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Bimal Verma and Flag Officers and other Naval Officers attached to the Command.
