'Amanat' brutal rape, Have we learned a lesson? December 29, 2012 11:02

Pathetic Saturday as the nation mourns the death of an innocent 23-years-old medico student who was brutally assaulted and raped in the national capital, couple of weeks ago. The young woman was flown to Mount Elizabeth hospital in Singapore for a better treatment but she died in the early hours of the day. Prominent expressed that she must be revered as a martyr as she had brought about a general awareness on increase of the brutality in sexual assaults on women. A hundred speeches and scores of laws would not have awakened the society like the way this gruesome incident has. All we can do is pray for her soul to rest.....and also pray that no other sister in nation is ever eve-teased. Instead of restricting the daughters we must try to inculcate better morals to our son's. 'Amanat' (name as pronounced by the media is not the real one) where ever you are ….we miss you.....The nation grieves the death of this most tender flower. Unfortunately a grievous incident but people have been asked to be calm as further disturbance would only give room for the miscreants to go on a rampage. But have we learned a lesson is another question that needs introspection. A personal incident that needs to be briefed here is a mirror to our slumber. The other day in Hyderabad, I was standing on the Ameerpet-S R Nagar road. In one street corner that leads to Srinivasa Colony East waiting for a friend of mine to join. But since he was delayed was sipping a cup of Tea at the bunk and noticed a bunch of  youth having a smoke standing on the pavement eve-teasing passing girls. But none of them reacted, probably they are used to this daily menace. I could not tolerate but was helpless as I was a stranger there, however managed to give them frequent cold stares as I was feeling quite disturbed. After a brief time one of the guys was keenly watching my moments and signaled me to come. I knew for sure that trouble was brewing up, but dared to walk up to them. He questioned my staring looks, I told them I  wondered to what extent they could stoop down in eve teasing, in a polite way, as they were nearly 7-8 and I was alone, this is not a cinema anyways. They were in an inebriated condition and this was another reason that cautioned me to be more careful while talking. They said that they were doing no harm but were only having fun. I agreed with them and told them about the numerous cases coming up in media, daily. The horrors of the rape victims Immediately they responded and said we are not offenders have you ever heard my name 'X' or his 'Y' or his 'Z' (names have been changed). Well I had no answer, but gathered courage to brief them and eventually moved away from them. Again the following day they were seen indulging in their daily routine at the same corner tea bunk. This live incident, in addition to the numerous rape cases that have been on the rise, makes me question self...have we learned a lesson from the bitter incident. However the seed of a sexual assault is eve teasing and this experience of mine might be the same felt by many across the metros...put an end with intention and never expect the law to control you which happens only after another sister of ours weeps...which is really not correct on our part. Make a beginning,  give the women space to live their lives in dignity. They are our mothers...sisters..daughters...they having been bearing us at all levels, when we give them respect...why do we not to the ones we see on the road side.  (Wishesh AarKay)

Shruthi Hassan's Kate Winslet dreams! December 27, 2012 12:05

Multidisciplinary starlet, Shruthi Hassan is one of the most followed star in the tinsel world. With her footings firm in South and North, Shruthi had been in the glare for various reasons. Her acting talents, singing aspirations, interests in fashion designing and what not. Adding to all this she would like to emulate Kate Winslet. Believe me it's not in one of those Hollywood chances but in real life. Shruthi expressed she was interested in taking a long holiday traveling across the Caribbean islands on a long cruise. That sounds great, but why? The answer to this question is due to her lonely experience while her flight were canceled during an earlier global visit. The actress had to wait for long hours in her hotel room all alone. This time she wants to enjoy the calm sea travel with friends on the luxury docks of the cruise.     That should sound pretty reasonable is it not! However better get over it Shruthi otherwise it will take ages to complete each film to be shot on international picturesque locations. Is this an invitation to filmmakers to plan something on he lines of the Titanic and cast her for the Kate Winslet role? (Wishesh AarKay)

The day is charged up particularly in Gujarat with Modi romping back to power as a hattrick. There is a wide speculation that the 2012 Gujarat CM is to be projected as the 2014 Prime Minister when the major part of the country goes for elections. Tirupati Wishesh: Devotees influx surges, in the early hours of the day about 26 compartments are filled. Darshan of the Lord is being organized by the TTD after the celebrations of Vaikunta Ekadashi and Dwadashi have successfully completed, the last couple of days.     National Wishesh: Modi Swearing-in: Narendra Modi will be sworn-in as the Gujarat Chief Minister for the fourth consecutive term in Ahmadabad today. The oath is scheduled to 11 am at the Sardar Patel stadium. Arrangements are made to accomodate nearly 100,00 people at the venue. The A-listers, including J Jayalalithaa and Raj Thackeray will attend the pompous fare.   Day's important Wishesh: One is never short of a company on long drives if the FM radio is on and this has been the experience of all drivers cross the globe. To all of them today was the day when this FM (Frequency Modulation) was patented officially in 1933. Strange but true!     History Wishesh: The prestigious Time's announces the Man of the year on its cover page on the January edition of the following year. For the first time in the history, Times named the Personal Computer for the coveted position on this day in 1982. the ordeal in process since 1927 had a non-human for the cover page. Such was the influence of this equipment on humans.   Tinsel world's hot Wishesh: Multi-faceted Dr Kamal Haasan says by hanging the accused in the rape-in-moving-bus case, the government will be committing another crime. He ascertained Delhi is our capital and victim is our sister similarly the accused are also our brothers. He added that by hanging one sin supersedes another and that is not the right way. With a big ticket release, Viswaroopam, ahead the star's reaction might not get positive nodes from the public, fear critics.  Sports Wishesh: India lost to Pakistan in the opening T20 I match at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. It was remarkable victory for the visitors as it was their very first against the arch rivals, Team India. India batted first and scored 133/9 while the visitors made hay by reaching the target, two balls short of the stipulated twenty overs and with five wickets in hand.       Wishesh Thought: Give  a last try before biding adieu! This is one thing that everyone must adhere to, especially before ending a relationship. Always give an earnest try to reconcile from your end before ending an age old relationship. As this would give valid reasons for the split and will not make one feel remorse or guilty when visualized some time later in life. The quote is valid for all relationships. (Wishesh AarKay)

Happy Christmas! The two day festival is celebrated with pomp and grandeur across the nation. The first day (December 24) or the Christmas eve started sometime before midnight, yesterday that included mass prayers. Then after midnight the celebrations continued with the happiness of the birth of the Lord. Christians across the city were celebrating the 'birth of Christ' at religious places. All churches in the city wore a festive look and the whole places were charged up. Celebrations continued for the second day (December 25). This was a domestic celebration and every individual of the house wished each other and prayed for the unity of the family members. Most main roads of the city are filled with the colorfully dressed members of the community visiting their relations and friends. One great thing about this festival is in the eve celebrations most close circles gather at a Church and pray for the society in addition to welcoming the Lord. On the second day they visit or invite friends from other communities to join them in celebrations. Christmas is a day to remind all of us, irrespective of any faiths, to realize that the Lord cleansed our sins with his blood. It is for each of us to realize that the 'Ultimate Power' had bestowed us with senses to differentiate between the good and the bad and by using the senses rightly...one will earn satisfaction which is nothing but peace and happiness. May this Christmas bless us all with unlimited positive energies while driving out the negativity within us, for ever. (Wishesh AarKay)

European organization Berners-Lee and Belgian computer scientist Robert Cailliau proposed the connectivity between the numerous computers on a common platform.     Tinsel world's hot Wishesh: Indian Milk Beauty Tamanna Bhatia seems to have gone over board in 'bare' shows and this time for an ad film. Hyderabad Hyderabad gets its Basilica December 24, 2012 17:11

A Christmas miracle for St Mary's Church right before Christmas! The Pope Benedict XVI declared the iconic church of Secunderabad a minor Basilica, an esteemed church, a couple of days before the birthday of Christ. This makes it the 17th such Church in India to be granted the Basilica status. Rev Thumma Bala, the archbishop of Hyderabad was warmed by the declaration and expressed great joy and pride for the people of the state apart from the Christian fraternity. He said, now that the church's level of importance has been raised higher, it stands a chance for being a major spiritual center with more visitors flocking to the place of worship. The Church dates back to 1854 with 150 years of rich history. Father Daniel Murphy was the man behind the the establishment of a Church for the Catholics who  mainly served in the British army. A basilica is a Catholic church or cathedral which has been accorded with certain privileges by the Pope. Major Basilicas are the bigger Catholic centers, currently all four of them are in Rome, while the minor ones are the ones spread around the world. A church can be named a minor Basilica for the rich history, antiquity and architectural significance. Once they are given the minor Basilica status, they receive special priestly privileges and are considered significant centers of worship. (AW- Anil)

Wow Shriya! On WOW mag: Morning Wishesh December 24, 2012 11:01

Good Morning.............Zao Shang Hao Welcome to the last full week of this year 2012 with a Chinese good Morning. The year has rolled out so fast that we never knew how it passed by. Let's all cheer to welcome the New Year 2013. This year must bless us all equally good and prosperous happenings that we have not witnessed in the past. It is a bright Monday at the metros and we hope to be geared up for celebrations that commence from tomorrow. Happy Christmas. Tinsel world's hot news: Nothing could shoot up the mercury levels in fan's hearts as a bare photo shoot of their darling stars. Shriya Saran, an actress who has acted in almost all major languages in the country and in English too was ruling the roost in South till some time back. Probably the very first who introduced the zero-size and raunchy moves to the female lead in the tinsel world seems to have crossed the 'Lakshman Rekha' during a recent photo shoot. To hog back lime light the star had posed some naturally beautiful photos that might belong to the 'bare' genre to some extent. The year end seems to be time for fans to rejoice. Happy watching.  Rape-in-moving-bus: The grueling incident of a 23-years-old medico in a moving bus and the battering she received by the accused has rocked the entire nation. The victim who is recovering at  Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, has a long way to go before she is fit at least partially. Prime Minister has appealed to the people to calm down. He assured justice to the victim and expressed his solidarity with her as he was also a father of three daughters. The victim's father appealed to the protestors who demanded justice for his daughter to remain peaceful and help the police. He added that his daughter who is fighting for her life needs their prayers and not violence in anyway.  History Amuses: Christmas Eve Broadcast is the most watched program in History...but how did it all start. In 1968 the crew of Apollo 8 performed ten lunar orbits after entering in to the orbital of the Moon. For the first time human senses could view the moon so closely. The same was broadcast live on that Christmas eve and hence the program become most famous across the globe.      Day's Importance: Christmas Eve is celebrated globally to mark the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. It is considered one of the most culturally significant celebrations in Christendom. Globally kids believe that Santa Claus gives them a gift of their choice tonight. Happy Christmas!     Tirupati Wishesh: Devotees influx surges ahead due to the Vaikunta Dwadesi today, in the early hours of the day about 31 compartments are filled and the average darshan time is estimated at 17 hours, while the special darshan might take three hours. The Lord along with his consorts was performed the Chakrasnanam pooja in the divine lake. Thousands of devotees had the glimpse of the Lord while the pooja was performed in the early hours. Nearly 61,042 devotees had the darshan in the temple on Sunday.   Sports Wishesh: India will miss master blaster Sachin Tendulkar for the arch rival home series against Pakistan. In fact both the nations will miss him. Sachin's retirement announcement from the ODI is sure to leave a big void which might take ages to be filled and might still be inadequate to compensate the loss to the fullest levels.      Business Wishesh : Early on Monday trading flourished in the financial markets. Sensex rose by 70 points while NIFTY gained 18 points. The marginal gain seems to be lucky for the markets especially on the opening day.       Thought for the Day:  What ever happens........there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Though I am not a tough minded optimist like many out there, I had been quite optimistic even in the tough crisis that took over me in all ways. But there was a moment when I used to question like an a atheist. Being frustrated I failed to enjoy life, but all of a sudden something strange happened and I came out of everything, in a wink of an eyelid. That made me repent for my thoughts and enjoy the bliss of the divine one. (Wishesh AarKay)

The country celebrates this year as the National Mathematical Year to honor Mathematics specialist Srinivasa Ramanujam Iyengar. Annually we celebrate this day as the National Mathematics Day but this year being the 125th birth anniversary of the genius, it is dedicated to him. His extraordinary contributions to analysis of the subject has filled many in awe, to this day. Ramanujam had no formal graduation in Mathematics but pioneered in mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. Many have quoted this stalwart as a born mathematician in league with Euler and Gauss. Hailing from a poor Brahmin family Ramanujam was found to be excellent in the subject at a very young age. But he could not retain his scholarship at college, as he was very poor in other subjects. Later he worked in the accounts department in Chennai port trust and independently worked on the subject of his interest. In the process he sent his findings to three academics of University of Cambridge. One among them, G. H. Hardy, realized the potential of this genius and invited him to work in his team at Cambridge. Ramanujam was later elected as the Fellow of the Royal Society and a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge. He has to his credit 3900 results of which very few were false or already found. The rest are a treasure trove to the world of mathematics. His death at an early age left a big void in the subject he was passionate about. The genius died in 1920, when he was just 32 years of age. Te famous quote of this God-fearing mathematician was "An equation for me has no meaning, unless it represents a thought of God." (Wishesh AarKay)
