More eyes for Hyderabad

The Hyderabad Police is increasing security throughout the city with the installation of 5,000 CCTV cameras. This initiative is part of their plans to reinforce security in the city. These advanced cameras will provide more eyes to the police in all major junctions and public places.

Andhra Pradesh DGP V Dinesh Reddy informed reporters that the CCTV cameras will be installed under the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerate limits. The measures fall under the Safe City project  and is being initiated as part of the AP Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act-2013.

The act was put into effect due to the repeated terror attacks in the city. Now all shops and buildings that attract large gatherings should have the facility to monitor their surroundings.

In case of any doubt whether they will work, the DGP confirmed that police stations in Andhra Pradesh will have nearly 90 reception centers with easy access to people. Big plans are being made is step up security ranging from training of personnel to patrol cars for better surveillance.
