After two years of turmoil the English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) gets an able Osmania University professor as the Vice-Chancellor. The EFLU must celebrate the occasion after a spate of issues that gripped the university. Prof Sunaina Singh shall now head the EFLU. The in-charge VC Prof R Amritavalli confirmed the issue, “We received the intimation on May 11 at around 6 p.m and we have passed on the appointment orders to Prof Singh. She will be taking charge as EFLU Vice-Chancellor around 10.30 a.m on Monday. We are all very excited about this.” About self she said that she would continue to be the senior most faculty member and serve the university as a professor in the Department of Linguistics.

The outgoing in-charge VC heaped praises on the new VC in her address on Sunday in the campus. “Prof Singh is a very gracious person and she is from OU. We will extend our full cooperation to help her take the university to greater heights.”

The new VC was earlier the head of the Department of English and is also the director of the English Language Teaching Centre and the Canadian Studies Centre at the Osmania University. Filled with ecstasy over her appointment the new VC said, “Taking charge of the English and Foreign Languages University is a big challenge. My aim, as I take charge, is to overcome all the challenges facing the university and take it forward.”

Students also rejoiced over the appointment. EFLU has 11 schools with each having at least two or three departments. However, because of the absence of a regular VC, recruitment of professors had been pending since the last two years. This has led to a shortage in the teaching staff in most schools. As of now this would be the biggest challenge for Prof Sunaina Singh, to go ahead in restructuring the university which is deeply plagued by this issue.  (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
