Mayor spells action, wants results not delays

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Majid Hussain on Thursday directed the various authorities to take immediate action on impending issues. He has summoned authorities to remove the lollipops on the road medians within a week, as also illegal hoardings. To intensify immediate action on the subject the Mayor asked the advertising wing officials to submit the status report to the standing committee in two weeks. Speaking to the waiting media, after the Corporation meeting he said, that the inordinate delay in clearing the tenders and other works despite being approved months ago, worried him much. He added, “The GHMC Commissioner and the standing committee are being misled by the officials about the status of several works. This won't be tolerated.”

Quoting an example he said about the purchase of hydraulic ladders that was cleared 9 months ago, are yet to be purchased. Another major issue was the removal of lollipops and illegal hoardings. The resolutions in this regards had been passed months ago, but implementation was not done.

About the estate properties the Mayor said, `precise list of the properties owned by the municipal corporation is also to be submitted by the Estates wing in the next 15 days since only 101 properties other than markets or shopping complexes of the 272 have been identified and eviction notices issued. The list should be submitted to all corporators.’ To hasten the work the Mayor also suggested that retired surveyors could be hired. Another issue that perturbed the Mayor was the delay in commissioning of the RDF garbage to power plant, even though the funds share from the GHMC were released. GHMC wanted modernization of slaughter houses and repairing the 74 water stagnation points before the onset of the monsoons.  (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
