Prof. Jayashankar dies of cancer

Prof. Jayashankar dies of cancerProf. Jayashankar, 76, theoretician of the separate state of Telangana, died of cancer this morning at his residence in Hanmakonda near Warangal. He has been suffering from cancer for the last few days and was shifted to his house from a hospital in Hyderabad last week.
 
Born at Akkampet village in Atmakuru Mandalam of Warangal district on August 6, 1934, Jayashankar took his masters in Economics from Benaras and Alighad Universities and did his Ph. D from the Osmania University. He worked as vice chancellor of the Kakathiya University for the period 1991-94.
 
A close friend of TRS chief KCR, Jayashankar turned into the theoretician of Telangana after the birth of TRS and advocated the formation of the separate state for the Telangana region till he breathed his last. He also played a key role in the birth of TRS.
 
KCR, Kodanda Ram rush to Warangal
 
TRS chief KCR, Telangana political JAC Convener Prof. Kodanda Ram and other pro-Telangana activists and leaders condoled the death of Jayashankar and rushed to Warangal to pay their last respects to the departed Telangana son.
 
Ministers DK Aruna, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and Sridhar Babu also expressed their condolences to the family members of Jayashankar and said Telangana has lost an important figure with his death.
