Lancet Study Says Covaxin Is 77.8 Percent Effective Against Covid:- The Indian Medical Research Agency along with Bharat Biotech developed a coronavirus vaccine Covaxin which is available in the country from early this year. The efficacy rate of Covaxin against the coronavirus is said to be 77.8 percent and the research was published in the journal 'The Lancet'. Covaxin is also 65.2 percent effective against the dangerous delta variant which is on in the country. The preliminary analysis told that the further investigations are needed for the confirmation. Covaxin works on a robust antibody response for two weeks after the dose is given told The Lancet.

A random trial has been conducted on 24,419 participants who are aged between 18 and 97 years. The trials are conducted between November 2020 and May 2021 in India. The trials told that no vaccine related deaths took place and there are no adverse events reported. "Efficacy against any severity of COVID-19 with onset 14 days after the second vaccination was 77.8 percent. Our preliminary analysis found an efficacy of 65.2 percent against the Delta variant, but further investigations are necessary to confirm clinical efficacy against this variant and others," told the report.
