How is the Vaccination Drive going in India?:- Covaxin and Covishield are the Indian coronavirus vaccines that triggered the vaccination drive in the country. Russia's Sputnik V and Moderna soon gained the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) in the country and now Johnson and Johnson joined the list. With several foreign vaccines getting approval, the vaccination drive in India got the needed boost. Johnson and Johnson is said to have high efficacy and can prevent hospitalization and death in the infected people. India's drug regulation DCGI granted permission to Cipla to import Moderna to India. As per the data, 50.86 crore vaccines are administered in the country till date.

50 lakh vaccine doses are administered on Saturday and the number came down on Sunday as most of the vaccine centres were shut. The daily new tally of cases reported in India is close to 40,000. Close to 30 crore beneficiaries received both doses of coronavirus. The production is now high and there are enough doses of coronavirus vaccines available in the market. The total number of vaccine doses supplied to the states and the union territories by the government of India is said to be 52.37 crores and over 2.42 crore doses are available with the states and the union territories. Johnson and Johnson is expected to be available in the Indian market from September.

The government is in plans to get 3-5 crore doses of Johnson and Johnson every month. Around 44.42 crore doses of Covishield are supplied till date from January to August this year. 6.82 crore doses of Covaxin are supplied this year and are offered to the Indian government. The government of India is expecting 135 crore doses of coronavirus vaccines between August and December this year.
