Supreme Court Asks Odisha Govt To Take A Call On Puri Rath Yatra:- The famous Rath Yatra in Odisha's Puri is an important event that happens every year and lakhs of people from all the corners of the country attend Rath Yatra. The Supreme Court today asked the government of Odisha to take a call on the rath yatra. Several petitions are filed earlier to ban the hugely popular festival. The apex court said that the government of Odisha will assess the condition and will take the steps to restrict people. The seven-day festival will start tomorrow.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who represented the Centre told the top court that only the people who are tested negative for coronavirus and the committee working in the temple of Lord Jagannadh can take part in the ritual. "If Lord Jagannadh will not come out tomorrow, he will not be able to come out for 12 more years as per the traditions," said Tushar Mehta. The Puri Rath Yatra will happen this year without people and the government is in plans to telecast the program live in the wakeup of coronavirus pandemic.
