India Is Not Into Community Transmission Says Centre

India Is Not Into Community Transmission Says Centre:- The Centre issued a clarification today that India is not into community transmission stage of coronavirus. There are a lot of speculations going on about this after the number of cases saw a huge rise in Delhi and Mumbai. The government said that they have been quite successful in controlling the spread because of the lockdown that was imposed in stages. The Centre said that the coronavirus is prevalent in less than one per cent in more than 83 districts of the country.

Balram Bhargava, Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said "There is a long debate happening. WHO did not define it. The prevalence is very low in the country. It is a bit higher in the urban regions and higher in containment zones. We are not into community transmission for sure. It is just a term". The stage 3 or community transmission is marked by the cases that cannot be traced or tracked. Balram Bhargava said that the lockdown should continue in containment zones.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday said that most number of cases could not be traced and he expressed his doubt of community transmission. Delhi has close to 30,000 cases and the government predicts that there would be 50,000 cases in the next ten days. The total number of cases in Mumbai are said to be 45,000 and there are 798 containment zones in the city.
