University Grants Commission Suggests A Delay In The New Academic Year:- The coronavirus brought life to a halt and the whole country is currently in lockdown. The 2020-21 academic year is now officially delayed as per the government-appointed committee. All the classes for higher education which is scheduled to start from mid of July will now start from September. All the schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions are closed from March 16th after the Centre announced the shutdown of the educational institutions. A seven-member committee was set up by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to discuss about the issues related to the examinations and the commencement of the next academic year in the country.

None of the entrance tests will be held on time and there is n exact clarity about the delay in the number of months. Some of the educational institutions may conduct the semester or year-end examinations in the month of July. The panel comprises of Haryana Central University vice-chancellor R C Kuhad, AC Pandey, director of Inter-University Accelerator Centre, Raj Kumar, head of Panjab University and Aditya Shastri, vice-chancellor of Banasthali Vidyapeeth. The Centre will have to approach the Supreme Court for the extension of the last date of the completion of the admissions.

One more committee is set up by the UGC for the recommendations on online education and online examinations. Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor of the Indira Gandhi National Open University is the head of this committee.
