No Community Transmission Of Coronavirus In India

No Community Transmission Of Coronavirus In India:- Almost 826 random samples of influenza illness and respiratory illness are tested in the country and they have returned negative. Indian Council of Medical Research Director Dr. Raman R Gangakhedkar told this today during an interview. If the community transmission is found in India, it would enter stage three of COVID-19 said Gangakhedkar. It is then the testing strategy has to be changed. Gangakhedkar said that the testing should be enhanced and it should be made more accessible.

Indian Council of Medical Research has been picking up random samples who are admitted in government hospitals and colleges for respiratory illness. They are sent to Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) which is a part of ICMR. They had a thorough check to clarify if there is a community spread. Initially, 150 samples were tested across 13 VRDLs. A total of 1020 samples are taken from 51 labs. As pf now, 826 are tested negative and the result of 194 are still pending.

As of now, 166 cases of coronavirus are recorded in the country. Three people passed away in India.
