AP Capital: Farmers Move to High Court Against Expert Committee:- After YSRCP took charge in Andhra Pradesh, they scrapped the plans of Amaravati which was decided as the new capital of the state by TDP. Though YS Jagan publicly announced his disinterest in Amaravati, he announced an expert committee after facing the heat from the people. The High Court in Amaravati admitted a writ petition that is filed by the farmers across the capital region of the state. They challenged the decision of AP Government which announced an expert committee that will decide the fate of Amaravati.

The farmers asked the court to direct the Government of Andhra Pradesh to continue the construction of Amaravati which was kept on hold by the new government. Their writ said that the committee was constituted in violation of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) Act, 2014. The farmers said that they donated their lands for the construction of Amaravati which is now not happening. Justice U Durga Prasada Rao issued notices to the Centre and the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh. The next hearing will take place on November 28th.

The expert committee led by retired IAS Officer G Nageshwara Rao said that they would receive the opinions and suggestions till November 12th. The Andhra Pradesh Government will take the final call depending on the report submitted by the expert committee.
