Polavaram Project: AP Govt Saves Rs 628 Cr After Re-tendering:- Andhra Pradesh Government claimed that the reverse tendering concept for Polavaram project saved a whopping amount of Rs 628 crores for the government. Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) bagged the works quoting an amount that is 12.6% less than the base price fixed by the AP Government. MEIL was the only bidder for Rs 4359.12 crores and they took the responsibility to complete all the unfinished works. This will save Rs 628.43 crores as the government fixed Rs 4987.55 crores as the value.

MEIL earlier constructed Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Project and they now bagged the headworks and the Hydro Power Plant works of Polavaram project. Once the government finalizes the tender, MEIL would be required to complete balance works of investigation, survey, preparation of designs and drawing and schedules. After getting the final clarification, MEIL will be awarded the contract before October 1st.
