Centre Agrees to Pay the Revised Cost for Polavaram Project:- The Centre which gave a rude shock for Andhra Pradesh in granting special status for the state approved the revised estimates for the prestigious Polavaram project of the state. The revised amount of Rs 55,548.87 crores for the construction of Polavaram project has been approved by the Centre. YSRCP MP V Vijayasai Reddy in the Rajya Sabha questioned for which Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Rattan Lal Kataria replied saying that the proposal has been examined and approved by the Centre.

Rs 6000 crores has been released for this national project and the minister confirmed that Rs 33,168.23 crores would be released for the land acquisition and rehabilitation works soon. Polavaram project constructed on Godavari river is spread across AP, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. A total of 17,800 acres of land – 6,600 acres of forestland and 11,200 acres of revenue land is acquired for the project. The land across 127 villages from four constituencies of West Godavari district – Polavaram, Chintalapudi, Gopalavaram and Denduluru is acquired for the project.
