Revanth Reddy Finally Joins Congress Party:- The sulking episode of Revanth Reddy has finally come to an end. After rumors spread like wildfire, that Mr. Reddy had met the Congress leaders to negotiate his entry, Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) former working president and legislator Revanth Reddy on Monday has finally joined the Congress party.

Revanth Reddy has reached Delhi today, and met AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to join Congress party. As we all know, he had already resigned his TDP post including the prime membership of the party at the TDP’s secretary at a meeting in Vijayawada last week.

“He told us at the meeting in Vijayawada that he was leaving for his personal ambition. We ended things on a good term. The TDP has no working president post. It was created to specifically promote Revanth,” said TDP’s national spokesperson E. Peddi Reddy.

The TDP leaders from Telangana had asked Revanth Reddy to clarify on the rumors that he was planning to join the Congress. Reddy had earlier accused the TDP cabinet ministers in Andhra Pradesh of seeking favors from Telangana chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The TDP in Telangana is now left with just two MLAs, with his departure, as 12 of its 15 legislators had defected to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) last year. The TDP, will now have to find a new leader, as Reddy had led protests against the ruling TRS. However, Peddi Reddy said that it will not affect the party much. “Such ups and downs happen in politics,” he added.

The entry of Revanth Reddy into Congress will help reinforce its anti-TRS efforts and also one more legislator will be added to its present 13 in the 120-member assembly. Earlier, eight Congress MLAs had defected to the TRS. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) official, who do not wish to be quoted, said Reddy has asked for the post of working president. “It is yet to be decided,” he added. Currently, MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is TPCC working president.

Revanth Reddy was arrested in the so-called ‘cash-for-vote’ scam, after Telangana’s formation in 2014. To seek his vote for the Telangana Legislative Council election, he is accused of bribing nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson. The elections were held in 2015.

As per the reports, over 48 members are set to join Congress along with Revanth Reddy. The members include former MLAs, MLCs, Party District Presidents and senior party leaders. On Tuesday, former Mulug MLA Seethakka has tendered her resignation to Telugu Desam Party . Along with Revanth Reddy, she will be joining the Congress party in the presence of AICC President Rahul Gandhi.

Apart from Seethakka, Mancherial TDP district president Bode Janardhan, Medchal district president Jangaiah Yadav, former Peddapalli TDP MLA Vijaya Ramana Rao, TNSF State president C Madhusudhana Reddy and Kamareddy district president Subash Reddy also have tendered resignations to TDP.
