More Than 1,200 Kg of Firecrackers Seized By Delhi Police, Post SC-Ban:- More than 1,200 kg of firecrackers have been seized by the Delhi police, after the Supreme Court ordered banning sale of firecrackers temporarily. In a drive being carried out, the police have arrested around 29 people from 13 districts.

The deputy commissioners of police of the 13 police districts have been directed by Delhi Police commissioner Amulya Patnaik, after the Supreme court order, to ensure that crackers are not sold in the city. Moreover, to monitor the situation, special teams have been deployed in districts.

Following the Supreme Court order, about 1,241 kilogram of firecrackers have been seized by the police in the crackdown, who registered 29 FIRs and arrested 29 people, said Madhur Verma, PRO, Delhi Police. According to the data, in the north district against the people found selling firecrackers, around eight cases have been registered, the maximum among all the districts.

The police confiscated about 368 kilogram of firecrackers, from the southwest district alone. This was the maximum among all districts with Rohini, standing close at 344.5 kg. Two Delhi Police personnel posted at the Mangolpuri police station in outer district were suspended for allegedly failing to curb the sale of firecrackers in their beat areas.
