Boy Rescued from Borewell After 11-Hours Rescue Operation In Guntur : The two-year old boy who fell into an abandoned 100-feet borewell hole on Tuesday evening was pulled out alive and safe, after 11 hours of rescue operation. The incident occurred at Pattambanda Ummadivaram village in Vinukonda Mandal in Guntur district.

The boy, Anamaluru Chandrasekhar (Chandu), accidentally fell into the borewell, which was dug and abandoned by his family long back, at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The officials were immediately alerted by the parents and villagers and rescue operations were started to pull the boy out. When the boy’s parents called him out, he was responding to them and his cries were audible as he got stuck at a depth of around 15-feet in the 100-foot borewell.

Despite some obstructions during the operation, after 11 hours of digging, the rescue teams could successfully pull the boy out. The operation was disrupted for a few hours as a hard rock obstructed the digging and due to rain. The teams could finally reach the boy at around 2:30 a.m on Wednesday and he was shifted to hospital. The doctors stated that he recovered completely and is healthy.

“I am unable to speak,” the kid’s father Mallikarjun was too happy and the entire village heaved a sigh of relief after seeing the boy alive and safe. “We lost all our hope and it was district officials who gave support to us and prayers of crores of Telugu people who prayed for my son have save him,” says Anusha mother of Chandu.

Earlier, all efforts were made jointly by the fire, police and NDRF staff to rescue the boy. To support him from beneath, a parallel hole was made below the spot where the boy got stuck. The parents and the entire village were praying for the safety of the boy and anxiously waiting at the accident site.

The officials were assured that the boy will be rescued safely as he was stuck only at a 15-foot depth.

It may be recalled that a girl named Meena, fell into a similar borewell recently in Ranga Reddy district in Telangana and she died before she could be pulled out after three days of rescue operations. Following the incident, the TS government ordered the closure all abandoned borewells.
