AP CM, Police Officers On Hit List Of Maoists : DGP N Sambasiva Rao

The Andhra Pradesh (AP) Director General of Police (DGP) has made some shocking revelations about the State CM, Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu and some police officers.

The DGP stated that Naidu and few of the police officers were on the hit list of Maoists. Following the Malkangiri (district of Odisha) encounter, in which 31 rebels died, the Maoists, issued death threats to the AP CM and some police officers. The encounter occurred in October last year. The Odisha Police and Greyhound jawans of Andhra Pradesh, jointly carried out the anti-Maoist operation.

Addressing the media, in Vishakapatnam, Rao said, they have already enhanced the security cover for the chief minister and all others on the hit list. For security reasons, the names of those on the hit list cannot be revealed, added Rao. In 1993, the naxals had targeted Deputy Inspector General (DIG) KS Vyas, for his successful anti-naxal operations and killed him, on his way back to Hyderabad. After Mahabubnagar SP Paradesi Naidu, who was killed in 1987, Vyas was the first top rank official killed by the naxals in the state. Majority of the top rank police officials, who have done their service in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, Prakasam, and Guntur districts in the past one and half decade are on the Maoist hit list, said Rao.

Referring to the increasing cases of cyber crimes in Vizag, the DGP said the police department will be setting up a cyber cell and laboratory on a priority basis, to prevent crimes and solve cases. Special emphasis will be given on improving security in Vishakapatnam, one of the biggest cities in AP.
