ESIC Launches Mobile Clinic Services In AP, Telangana

The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has yesterday launched, Mobile Clinic Services in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Union minister of State for Labor and Employment Bandaru Dattyatreya, launched the ESIC Mobile Clinic Services in the Telugu states.

He further flagged off, “Jan Suraksha Vans/Ambulances” in Hyderabad.

These ambulances would serve the areas, not covered by ESI dispensaries in Telugu states.

The Minister said, “Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will be the first states in the country, where the facility would be made available initially and later expanded to other parts of the country, by all ESI hospitals.

About 13 mobile clinics have been launched initially, and among them eight clinics would serve in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda and Nizamabad districts in Telanagana.

The remaining five clinics would serve Chittoor, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, Nellore and Anantapur districts in Andhra Pradesh.

Every clinic will have a vehicle with a Doctor, pharmacist, attendant, driver and the necessary equipment and medicines.

The vehicle will visit two locations in a day for three hours each and conduct basic investigations.

Every location will be covered twice a week, said Mr. Dattatreya.

These mobile clinic services are estimated to cost around Rs 30 crores annually.

Under the ESI scheme, employer contribution has been brought down to 3% of the wages from 4.75%, while the employees contribution rate has been reduced to 1% from 1.75%, the Minister said.

The ESIC Hospital, is providing quality health services to its beneficiaries and the number of beds would be increased to 500 at the ESIC Medical College, here in Telangana, added Mr. Dattatreya.

The ESIC is also planning to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the State-run Nizam’s Institute Of Medical Sciences (NIMS), to extend its services.

The government has already raised the salary of ESI beneficiaries to Rs 21,000 per month from Rs 15,000 and has taken up new initiatives for the benefit of women employees, the Minister added.

The Ministry is planning for the third generation reforms for workers in the unorganized sector.

Around 4.30 crore workers are present in the construction sector and out of them 1.80 crore workers have been registered, Dattatreya said.

Mr. Dattatreya said ESI services cover 48 lakh beneficiaries through 12 lakh insured persons in Telangana.

There are six ESI hospitals, 70 dispensaries, 149 panel clinics and two diagnostic centers.

The Minister even praised Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi for ensuring legal status to National Other Backward Class (OBC) Commission.

“Rather than using the OBCs as vote banks like other parties, the Telangana Government is sincere towards upliftment of OBCs, said Dattatreya.
