London Terrorist Attacker Identified As Khalid Masood

The Police have identified the Westminister attacker as 52-year old, Khalid Masood.

Masood, a British-born man, who was shot dead by Scotland police, had a criminal record, some years ago for violent extremism, as investigated by Britain’s Spy agency, MI5.

His previous convictions included causing grievous bodily harm, possession of offensive weapons and public order offenses.

The identity of the attacker, was revealed just after 24 hours, he drove a hired Hyundai into a crowd of pedestrians crossing Westminister Bridge.

The accused, before crashing into the gates outside Parliament House, had stabbed to death, the police officer Keith Palmer.

According to Scotland Yard police, four people are dead and 40 others are injured -  five critically and two others have life-threatening conditions, in the terror attack.

The Metropolitan police said Masood had recently been living in the West Midlands and was known by numerous false names.

Masood, was known by the name Adrian Elms in Kent, according to reports. He was believed to have been living in the West Midlands.

The police further added, there had been no prior intelligence reports, about Masood’s intention to carry out an attack.

Masood is believed to have lived at various times in Rye, Crawley in West Sussex and Eastbourne, in East Sussex.

He also appeared to have been convicted of a knife crime in 2003 in Eastbourne. Masood’s first conviction, was in November 1983 for criminal damage and his last conviction was in December 2003, for possession of a knife.

Car hiring company, Enterprise, said the vehicle used in the attack, was taken for rent by the accused, from its Spring Hill depot in Birmingham.

After the attack, the police have arrested eight people, following raids at six addresses, including one in East London and Birmingham. Three women, and five men have been arrested on suspicion of, preparation of terrorist acts.

British police say, they believe, the attacker was inspired by Islamist ideology.
