Shooting Inside Quebec Mosque, Six Killed

In a shooting in Quebec, Six people were killed on Sunday after a gunmen opened fire in a mosque during evening prayers.

The Quebec police spokesman confirmed the news stating that people were killed, but the number was not confirmed. He added that "two suspects in the shooting were arrested."

Police assume that the third suspect has fled the spot. The motive of the attack has not been known yet. Police set up sealed the place around the mosque.

Earlier, a witness told that "up to three gunmen fired on about 40 people inside the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center."

"Why is this happening here? This is barbaric," said the mosque's president, Mohamed Yangui.

Quebec's prime minister, Philippe Couillard, said in a series of Twitter posts that "the government was mobilised to ensure the security of the people of Quebec."

"Quebec categorically rejects this barbaric violence," he wrote. "Solidarity with Quebec people of Muslim faith.

The mosque's president said that he was not inside the mosque when the shooting took place. He also got frantic calls from people present at evening prayers. He added that he did not know how many people were injured, as they have been taken to different hospitals across Quebec City.
