Rahul Gandhi Not Allowed To Meet Family Of Deceased Ex-Serviceman

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has been detained and not allowed to meet the deceased ex-serviceman, who had committed suicide on Wednesday on the issue of One Rank, One Pension after writing about it to the Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar at the RML Hospital in Delhi.

The entry into the hospital was denied by the security personnel deployed at the gate.

Mr. Gandhi reacting to the incident said, “Naya Hindustan ban raha hai bhaiya (New India is in making)...This is Modi ji's India.”

ACB chief MK Meena said, “Rahul Gandhi was detained at Mandir Marg Police Station for 'disruption of duty' after he tried to enter RML premises to meet the family of the ex-serviceman.”

Meena further said, “this is a hospital, not a place for demonstration.” AAP leaders were also detained for creating disturbances, the ACB chief added.

Ram Kishan Grewal, an ex-serviceman from Bhiwani in Haryana had committed suicide earlier on the issue of OROP by consuming poison. However, the main reason behind his suicide is not yet confirmed.

AAP President as well as the chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal also lashed out the Narendra Modi government earlier for the incident and he is also scheduled to meet Grewal’s family in Bhiwani, Haryana.

Congress vice-president has urged the PM Narendra Modi to implement One Rank, One Pension in meaning way. He said, “I urge the PM once again: soldiers should not have to struggle to claim what is their due. OROP must be implemented in a meaningful way!

"My heartfelt condolences to the family of Subedar Ram Kishan Grewal. Extremely sad to learn of his death.”
