Trade unions call for Strike across the Country

All the major trade unions called for a day-long general strike across the country on Friday.

The Telangana state along with government administration would also come to a grinding halt with no functioning of offices as all employees’ associations have extended support to the bandh.

TSRTC recognized-workers’ union, Telangana Mazdoor Union has also served strike notice due to which RTC bus services will also be affected.

Government schools, colleges and universities will also stay closed with staff deciding to join the strike. However, private schools have not declared any holiday and have decided to take a call based on the situation on Friday morning. Auto rickshaws, too, will be off the roads as unions extended support to the bandh.

Cinema theatres too have decided to cancel morning and matinee shows with workers serving strike notice. Shopping malls and other commercial establishments will be closed during the day and function from evening. Factories will remain closed across the state. Among the unions’ demands are checking price rise through pan-India public distribution system.

However, the strike would not impact taxis, cabs, rail and flight services as workers there have not served any strike notice. Banks will not function as bank staff in both government and private sectors have decided to join the strike.
