Osmania University Teachers Protest Enters 4th Day

The Osmania University teacher’s protest which entered fourth day announced that they would continue to protest and refrain to work only when they get their July salary.

Over 300 teachers demanded administration to pay their salaries immediately. They took out a rally from the University College of Arts and Social Sciences to the administrative building.

Professor Battu Satyanarayana, OUTA president said “delays have been on for the past five months. OU staff has not been getting wages on first of every month. The varsity has exhausted all resources to pay salaries from January to February. After protests for the release of Rs 58 crore grant, government released Rs 25 crore. Balance must be released immediately.”

“It is unfortunate that the government is forcing teachers to organise protest programmes only for payment of salaries,” said Prof Satyanarayana added.

For the fourth consecutive time, teachers are protesting. Almost every month, teachers don’t get salaries on time.

Talking to media persons on Friday, vice-chancellor Prof S Ramachandram assured all the teachers that they would get their salaries by August 5.

Teachers said that “they did not get their salary as promised and claimed that this sort of situation never occurred in the history of Osmania University.”
