AP Government Proposed ORR project for Amaravati

Andhra Pradesh Government has proposed Outer Ring Road for its upcoming capital city of Amaravati.

On Thursday, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Chairman Raghav Chandra said “I expected the selection of the consultant to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) to be completed soon. Further ahead, the DPR should be ready in six months.”

“We are commissioning a DPR consultant… the consultant would be identified soon. In the next five to six months we should have a DPR for an ORR of Amaravati-Vijayawada,” he told a conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry here.

Talking on the desire of Andhra Pradesh government for creation of ORR, Mr. Chandra said “the cost of the project would be about Rs.12,000 crore. The Andhra [Pradesh] government has assured [that] they have already gone in for land pooling and have an arrangement with the farmers where land will be available for this work.”

NHAI said that “the ring road expressway at Amaravati would be 186 km long. He highlighted the Amaravati ORR project while pointing out that the NHAI proposes to take up projects to develop the ORR and bypasses for all the major cities. It was also focussing on developing roads to improve port connectivity.”
