GHMC: Re-polling in Purana pul division

Because of the several unfortunate incidents in few areas of Hyderabad during GHMC elections, the election commission has decided to conduct re-polling in the disturbed areas.

The issue led to controversy, with the attack on MIM activists and Congress activists and from there, it got heated up after Shabbir Ali and Uttham Kumar Reddy cars were attacked.

With these incidents, the Congress activists visited Election Commission and sought to conduct the re-polling in Purana pul division. After considering the complaint last night, the officials accepted to conduct the re-polling.

As per the latest decision, the re-polling would be conducted in all the 36 polling booths tomorrow, from 7am to 5pm. 34413 voters would come towards the polling booths for casting their votes again. 225 officials would perform their polling duties tomorrow.

On the other hand, in 24 areas of the greater limits, the counting of the votes would be started by tomorrow 8 am. While a few opine that re-polling and counting of the votes on the same day, might lead to problems. The election commission said that, they did not receive any such complaints as of now, from the officials.

“If at all, any official complaint against it, we would surely consider it,” the EC officials said.

A few opine that, the counting of votes may be started by tomorrow afternoon to avoid confusion or else, it might even shift to the next day. The official declaration on the same from Election commission is still awaiting.
