Restrictions on wearing Army pattern dress

The Army issued fresh guidelines to the public, asking them to stay away from wearing  Army-pattern dresses. It even told the shopkeepers, to refrain from selling combat clothes, to prevent terror attacks.

After the recent horrifying Pathankot terror attack, in which six terrorists lost their lives, these fresh guidelines are issued.

The official spokesperson said that, wearing or selling, Army pattern dresses is strictly restricted, as ‘it is illegal’, to do so.

The official even added that, not only normal public, even the private security agencies, police and other central forces are also restricted from wearing ‘combat-pattern’ dresses as “it is not authorized and leads to false alarms.”

Not disappointing the shopkeepers, who are willing to sell the army uniforms, the official said, “All traders and shopkeepers interested in selling Army uniforms may approach the local military authority and request for shops in units/cantonments approved areas/shops.”

Strictly restricting the uniforms only to the Army personnels, the official further said that, even the relatives of armed forces personnel and ex-servicemen are restricted from using uniform, opining that, would create the false reports.

Police and Civil administration have also been asked to check and crack down on the defaulters.

"The youth is exhorted to use social media to spread awareness and start a campaign to prevent misuse of Army uniform and equipment as a fashion statement," the spokesperson said.
