AAP president and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal dismissed one of his ministers, after he was alleged in bribery case.  

Regarding the issue, Kejriwal arranged a video press conference and announced saying, “We received a complaint that the Asim Ahmed Khan, the capital region’s food and environment minister, took a bribe of 600,000 rupees ($9,255) from a builder for unauthorized construction.

Not stopping there, he even played the audio clips of the minister in the conference, which revealed that the minister was talking to a broker. However, he later submitted the audio tapes to the Central Bureau of Investigation.  

Kejriwal opined that, his decision of dismissing the minister, will turn as a strict warning to other members in the party and thus be careful, while serving the people.  

We are ready to tolerate anything, but not the corruption. We won’t spare the corrupt, be it anyone,” he said.

However, Kejriwal did not specify whether Khan would remain in AAP and contest in the coming February elections. But the close sources say that, Khan would no longer continue in the party, as it would obviously be a red mark and has to face huge criticism from the public.

Kejriwal seized power on the platform of providing a corruption-free government in Delhi and moreover he has challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party to take action against leaders accused of graft. So at this time, there is no other option for Kejriwal to dismiss Khan completely, as he would be easily be cornered by Modi and his government.

On the other side, it is not just with Khan, Kejriwal came across a number of scandals that are going on under the leadership of AAP members.

As a part of this, in June, the law minister Jitender Tomar resigned after he was arrested for acquiring a fake law degree, while former minister and party member Somnath Bharti is accused of trying to kill his wife.

Kejriwal government was formed with huge belief in the public and believed that, it would abolish corruption. But at this time, the same party involving in a series of corruption incidents, is putting the party in threat. So it should be seen, what would be the position of the party in the next elections.
