30 police chase 15 late-night bike racers, one dies

A man ends his life, after he was chased by the police, for being involved in late-night bike races in Mumbai.

A group of 15 members conducted a race at late-night around Monday midnight and were spotted by the police at Worli Seaface. When the police tried to stop the racers, the two men of Malwani, Mumbai, reportedly abused the officials and rushed away.

A team of 30 police, from seven police stations then, chased Malwani men from Worli to Jogeshwari for almost 24 kms. Only one biker was nabbed, while the rest escaped. The arrested suspect, Adil Khan (31), was let off after a fine.

Two riders named Imran Khan and Mubarak raised the bike faster when the police chased them. Mubarak was caught at Kherwadi junction, after his bike collided with a car. He is currently been treated in a private hospital in Malwani.

On the other hand, Imran Khan, aged 20 years, tried to overtake the car, but upon failing to do so, he left his breath on the spot.

Speaking on the issue, Mumbai Deputy Police Commissioner (crime) Dhananjay Kulkarni, who is also the spokesperson of the Mumbai police, said, “Speeding bikers are a major concern for us and we are taking additional measures, such as more nakabandis, to end their nuisance. It's mostly youngsters who speed around for the fun of it but end up losing life or limb.”

Is the official racing sports encouraging the youth?

History has many examples to show the consequences after bike racing, it not only crime, but even ends your life. In fact, the official racing games being promoted by stars and the government is also giving an indirect boost to the youth to perform these activities outside. So it would be better if the government stop all kinds of racing sports.

Racing games might give thrill to the youth, but that thrill might cost the lives, which obviously has more thrills to experience. So if that little racing thrill is sacrificed, rest other thrills in life, which gives you and your family members, loads of smiles, will be yours.
