Harithaharam was officially launched in Telangana

KCR ordered the officials to perform Harithaharam as the people’s programme and not the government.

As mentioned before, Harithaharam was officially launched yesterday and the Telangana officials participated in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Telangana Chief Minister KCR said that, if the tree plantation programme is regularly taken up as a mass movement, then the state can soon overcome the drought and unseasonal conditions in just three to four years.

“Due to degradation of forest cover, the state is witnessing drought and unseasonal conditions for the last few years because of chopping of the trees. It should be remembered that, trees are the source for the rains,  it prevents the depletion of groundwater table and usher in overall prosperity for the people, state and the country,” KCR said.

After offering special prayers at the Chilkuru Balaji temple, the programme Harithaharam was officially launched at Chilkur in Moinabad mandal, Rangareddy district. He asked the teachers to mould the students as “Haritha sainikulu.”

“The State government will supply saplings, every individual in the state should plant at least four plants which is small work and decorate and Telangana state with a green garland,” he added

Harithaharam continues for next four years- KCR

KCR assured that the programme would continue for the next four years. In each assembly constituency, as many as 40 lakh saplings will be planted each year. In every village, 40,000 saplings will be planted every year.

From next year, the government will provide saplings of their choice to the farmers and directed all the district collectors to take steps for the same.

“This to motivate farmers and villagers to plant fruit-bearing trees around houses and near agricultural lands,”  he said and added that due to the fast-disappearing forest cover, wild animals are venturing into villages and towns.

Green run by the Cyberabad Police

On Saturday, in Malkajgiri Zone, Green Police for a Greener Future would be launched by the Cyberabad commissioner C V Anand. At Neredmet crossroads a 3 km Green Run would be conducted, Rama Rajeswari R DCP, Malkajgiri, said.

In the name of Metro Haritha Haaram, the Hyderabad Metro Rail is also taking up a large-scale plantation drive. Regarding this, HMOP will plant a total of five lakh plants, including one lakh tall avenue plants and four lakh decorative floral and foliage varieties.

Harithaharam is the right initiative by the government at the right time. If it is implemented as said above, then within no time, not only the people, even the wild animals would be preserved for the future generations.
