Modi sarkar now after govt bodies

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has promised to transform the India within sixty months, want to sweep the entire UPA government traces so as to start from the scratch. Modi firstly removed the group of Ministers [GoMs], then he was after the personal staff of ministers, later shifted focus to UPA appointed governors and now Modi is after the Government bodies.

The PMO is heard to have asked various ministries to identify appointments made by UPA for autonomous bodies working under the Centre’s jurisdiction and direct them to step down indefinitely. Starting first, National Disaster Management Authority [NDMA] vice chairman Marri Sasidhar Reddy along with five other key members have resigned and sent their resignation letters to the government.

National Commission for Women, National Commission for SC/STs, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), National Commission for Safai Karmacharis and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)  heads are also likely to follow soon.

In addition to this the new government has issued a through Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth stating that no official who served on the personal staff of a union minister of the previous regime would be  appointed as personal staff to NDA ministers. The Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth is also asked to step down but was given six months grace period.

The reports say that Modi government will replace positions of the heads of key bodies such as the NDMA, the NCW, the SC/ST commissions, the minorities commission, the ICCR with middle to senior-level party leaders who played crucial role during the election campaign. There is nothing new in this decision as the incoming government fresh vision to the governance and find the right men for the job. But how far will the new appointed heads will do justice to their jobs is something to be noticed.
