SC Agrees To Take Up Sexual Assault Case Against SC Judge

Allegations made against the retired Supreme Court Judge Swatanter Kumar by the former Law intern have come to Supreme Court today.

As the case is marked urgent the Chief Justice P Sathasivam accepted it to take up on January 15.

The petitioner challenged the decision of the Supreme Court’s resolution on December 5, 2013 that the court will not take up a case against its retired judge.

As the petitioner encouraged by the inquiry of the Supreme Court held on the retired Justice A.K.Ganguly says that the apex court should take the case up as it did in the case of sexual assault of A.K.Ganguly.

The petitioner in her affidavit stated that Swatanter Kumar who was the sitting judge at that time put his right arm around her and kissed on her shoulder. Bewildered, the petitioner left the room hurriedly. The incident happened as per her, when she made a mistake and wanted to apologize for it at his office room. Then he said not to worry but to come beside his desk and made the above advances.

Even before that the petitioner complained, she said that the judge Kumar placed his hand on her lower back.

Justice Swanter Kumar at present is heading National Green Tribunal. He denies the complaints and says that they are false and is a conspiracy against him.
