MOM To Leave Earth Orbit Today

First Indian Space Voyage To Mars attempted through Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) Indianised name of which is Mangalayan will shoot from the Earth’s influence to go in to the solar system and then to travel towards Mars.

If everything goes well as planned, MOM is going to leave Earth Orbit by midnight at 12.49 tonight.  Then the voyager will travel for 300 days to reach Planet Mars.  

By firing the liquid Apogee Motor for 23 minutes the satellite will be thrown out of the Earth’s gravitational influence.  

The Director of the MOM program Dr.Anna Durai said that everything is under control and the mission will take the scheduled motion.  The satellite MOM will reach Mars on 24th September 2014.  It is yet to decide from which point the MOM should be made to enter the Mars orbit.
