More than 1000 ATMs Closed at Bangalore

As per the orders from the Bangalore Police Commissioner over 1000 ATMs are closed at Bangalore today which are not having round the clock security guards as one of the security arrangements that are made compulsory.

In spite of the Bank’s request to give them some more time to implement the orders, the City police asked them to open only those ATMs which comply with the security guidelines.  As such more than 1000 ATMs in city of Bangalore had to be closed.

Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra H Auradkar gave strict orders to the banks to follow the security guidelines in the absence of which stern action will be taken on the banks violating the guidelines.

In addition to 24 hours security guard outside the ATM, the banks are to install a CC Camera inside and another outside the ATM Kiosks and an alarm system should be made available.  The Police Commissioner issued the orders to comply with the security guidelines before 24th because of which 1000 ATMs which do not have the said arrangements had to be closed today.

The decision was taken to step up the security measures at ATMs following an assault on the woman bank manager in an ATM last week.
