Ready to Face Helen Says Disaster Management Commissioner

The Cyclone named as Helen is going to cross the coast between Chennai and Ongole on Thursday night.

The cyclonic storm may hit Kavali. The winds are expected to blow at a speed of 70 to 80 km per hour and may go up to 100 km starting from Thursday evening.  Guntur, Prakasham, Krishna and Nellore districts are going get the impact of the cyclone Helen with heavy to very heavy rain fall.

Revenue officials are prepared in the 11 mandals of Coastal Andhra to assist the victims by stocking drinking water and essential medicines.

Fishermen were cautioned from yesterday itself not to venture in to sea as the weather may get rough all of a sudden due to the cyclone getting intensified.

Disaster Management Commissioner Pardha Saradhi said that all possible measures are taken to reduce the loss in the cyclone.  The tides at the sea coasts are expected to rise to 1.5 to 4 meters high.
