Contract workers in the Municipalities in the State are going on strike from today onwards for their demands that were not considered for a long time.  

Contract workers working in 162 Minicipalities and 18 Towns including GHMC in the State have decided to strike from work from today including DWAKRA and CMEY workers.  The leaders stated that the strike will go on till all of their demands are met.  

Seven workers unions announced their support to the strike in the State.  10 unions supported in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.  3400 workers are joining the strike from tomorrow in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.  2000 workers are joining from Visakha Municipal Corporation.  

Main demands of the contract workers are that their minimum wages should be 12500 per month and a compensation of Rs.5.00 lakhs to the family members of the worker dies on duty.   Many services are going to come to halt with the strike of the Municipal workers in Municipal Corporations including GHMC.
