Curfew imposed at Vizianagaram

As the violence was going out of bounds in Vizianagaram, police imposed curfew from Sunday onwards in the city of Vizianagaram.

Even at 10.00 pm on Saturday Samaikya supporters were on roads demanding resignation from Botsa Satyanarayana.  They threw stones on his residence and a car in front of the house was inflamed.  The tussle was going on between police and activists right from the morning.

Congress leader Thammannasetty’s residence also was attacked by the activists.    DCCB office was torched.  Police used teargas shells to disperse the crowds.  A bus belonged to Avanthi College and a van belonged to Arunodaya Steels were set fire.  A shop name of which is Sonia was attacked.

Many anti social elements entered the scene in guise of Samaikya movement.  12 shops were looted by the unidentified mobs.  Special Forces are deployed to control the situation.  IG Dwaraka Thirumala Rao announced curfew from Sunday.

The curfew is strictly implemented and it is continuing as the situation is still tense.  Police forces are deployed at all the intersections.  As there is a chance of arrival of students from Visakha and Srikakulam in large numbers, the police are alert and ready to tackle the situation.
