In an announcement that is bound to make several hearts skip a beat, the Congress High Command has called for a meeting regarding the all important Telangana issue on Tuesday. This is a day earlier than the previous date.

The UPA Coordination Committee will sit for the meeting at 4pm on Tuesday and the CWC meeting would also take place later at 5:30pm. With a bifurcation looming ahead, thousands are holding their breath in anticipation of the decision on the state's fate.

Telangana state may become a reality, containing 10 districts. A decision may also trip towards the inclusion of certain parts of Rayalaseema into the new state. Many Seemandhra leaders have already announced their decision to quit their posts if a new state is announced.

Congress, meanwhile, is showing that it will not bow to such pressures. The party is serious about the crucial meetings and will make a final announcement soon. Fearful of a decision favoring a bifurcation, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has made it clear that he will resign if the high Command disrespects Seemandhra's wishes. He is a strong supporter of  a united Andhra.

Meanwhile, many are wondering what APCC President Botcha Satyanarayana would do in the event of a bifurcation announcement. He is strictly against bifurcation but also a congress supporter. Would he stick to his ideals or would he give in to the party?

Kiran Kumar Reddy and Botcha Satyanarayana are going to the capital city to be available for any last minute consultation. AICC President Sonia Gandhi would take the views of UPA partners including NCP, NC, RLD, Indian Muslim League, and then present them to the CWC. Tuesday is a big day for AP. Bifurcation or not - that's the million dollar question that Congress has to answer after the meetings.
