Violence in Pakistan rears its ugly head again

Pakistan is under attack. In two blasts that occurred yesterday in the country's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), a minimum of 39 people were killed. A bomb was found on a motorcycle in a crowded area.

Additionally, more than 100 people were seriously injured. Both blasts were timed to coincide with the period before their Iftar, when they break their day-long fast. Many were at the market place to purchase fruits for the ritual Iftar during Ramadan.

Besides casualties, the blasts at the Kurram tribal region resulted in at least 20 people suffering critical injuries. Parachinar Bazaar experienced the first blast and the next one was at the main school road. According to sources, both blasts were suicide attacks spaced 4 minutes apart. The nature of the bombs is still not confirmed.
