Traffic restrictions on Tirumala ghats

The Chief Vigilance and Security Officer (CVASO) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam issued orders to control the vehicular traffic between Tirumala and Tirupati.  The CVASO said that the traffic restrictions are imposed as a precautionary measure for the safety of the pilgrims that visit Tiruamala in the wake of the accident occurred on the Tirumala ghat road on Monday.

The CVASO called all private hired car owners on Tuesday to discuss about the restrictions imposed on the vehicular movement on the ghat road.  He told them that the new rules will be implemented from today.  The security personnel will issue tickets at Garudadri and Alipiri toll gates.  Alipiri toll gate is the starting point to climb seven hills by road and Garudadri toll gate is the point to descend the seven hills.

A private vehile driver who takes a ticket at Alipiri toll gate should not reach Garudadri toll gate before 35 minutes of starting from Alipiri.  The minimum time that should be taken for reaching Alipiri from Garudadri is 40 minutes.  Swiping the receipt given by TTD shows the journey time.

The CVASO said that this speed restriction imposed on the private hired vehicles will ensure safety on the ghat road.  The private car owners try to make more number of trips per day to earn more and for that purpose they drive very fast without bothering for the risk factor.
