Noted singer S Janaki who was conferred Padma Bhushan award has rejected the award. The reason for her rejection are unknown and she was not available for comment. Notably, Padma awards were given by the President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday. Producer Dr D Rama Naidu was also given this award and he accepted the same with much pleasure yesterday. Surabhi Babji, noted personality who has been organizing Surabhi stage dramas also got Padma Sri yesterday.

Although we don't know the exact reason for rejection of Padma award by S Janaki, the media reports indicated that her talent was not recognized for a long time in her five-and half year career. Media reports quoted her saying she consider the recognition of her fans as her greatest award.

S Janaki, who hails from Kerala, entered play back singing industry 55 years ago. She sung n number of songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
