Can we implement 'no mobile' in Chanchalguda?

A miss-not visit on the political itinerary is Chanchalguda, which lodges the elite accused, in the state. While many rules are conveniently bent around to please these VIP prisoners, the 'no mobile', is an important unheeded one.

Globally this rule is effectively maintained to bring about a change in the confined ones, to give them time to realize the importance of social life and crime-less life. Even that is defied by these elite VIPs, who are using the premises as political adda.

However, such acts would be dealt severely in our neighboring island nation. In a recent incident in the Welikada Prison of Kotte, Sri Lanka. A 58-years-old man was convicted for ten years on robbery charges. One day the authorities heard mobile ringing, even after a thorough search of the prisoner, nothing was found.

Later he was taken to a hospital, where the doctors deducted that the mobile was shoved up his anal track. After surgery they removed the mobile. The irony is that the prisoner who did not switch off his mobile while hiding it, had to return to prison with an extended term.

Critics claim that even though we have more stringent rules, the elite are managing to escape in such issues. May be they are setting a bad precedent to the other prisoners. (Wishesh AarKay)
