Congress party's erratic hike in power bills seems to have given the current shock to the party by its oppositions, though on records it is the public that faced the brunt. On Friday (January 18) senior leaders of the state BJP wing protested against the power hike and were arrested at Hyderabad.
The agitating leaders headed by senior leaders Bandaru Dattatreya and Greater Hyderabad President Venkata Reddy were arrested when they were protesting against the hike at Punjagutta. The arrested leaders shouted slogans on the erratic hike and demanded a roll back of the propose hike.
The leading opposition party in the state, TDP also raised its voice over the hikes and also demanded reconsideration on the proposal. Earlier they held several protests across the state, including a squatting protest outside the CM's chambers in the secretariat. Many senior leaders were arrested from the party while protesting at Karimnagar.
The power charges hike by the ruling party for the second time in the last six months has irked the public much. (Wishesh AarKay)
