Can't direct Youtube to remove hate speech videos: HC

Andhra Pradesh High Court has today turned down a petition filed praying court for directing Youtube to remove hate speech videos of MIM legislator Akbaruddin. The court, which turning down the petition, has said that it couldn't interfere in someone's freedom of speech and expression. The court also held that right to know what has happened also comes under freedom of speech and expression. Also, the court even said that a petition, in this regard, should be moved at Youtube office in New York of the United States of America.

 

Notably, Akbaruddin's speech-inflammatory-which was over one-and-half hour have been available on Youtube as several parts. Akbaruddin, in his speech, took on a particular group and their beliefs. He even challenged the country. In connection with the same, he was arrested for promoting enmity between two groups and for abetting to waging a war against the Government of India. Akbaruddin was arrested and sent to 14 days judicial custody. He's currently at Adilabad district jail.
