Gali OMC-884Crores-ED

The Enforcement Directorate has attached shares and assets worth Rs 884 crore belonging to former BJP minister and mining don Gali Janardhan Reddy, under money laundering act.

"Our investigations revealed that OMC had illegally mined iron ore valued at Rs.884.13 crore for three years from 2007-10. The amount was seen invested in Brahmani Industries Ltd. by OMC," the directorate said in a statement.

According to reports, Reddy, who owned Obalapuram Mining company (OMC), illegally mined ore from 2007-2010.  Gali Janardhan Reddy is planning to contest elections from Jail and this will certainly a big setback for him.

Reddy has been in jail since September 2011 as the main accused in the OMC case for illegally mining in Andhra Pradesh and in Karnataka. He even tried bribing judiciary to get his bail but the attempt was foiled by CBI.

The High Court Circuit Bench in Dharwad on Wednesday denied bail to Janardhana Reddy. Reddy had applied for bail at the Principal Bench of the High Court in Bangalore in a case related to illegal mining carried out by his Associated Mining Company (AMC).

Based on rotation, the Bench headed by Justice H N Nagmohan Das, who was at the Circuit Bench on Wednesday, denied bail to Reddy and dismissed his application.
